Cricket TV – Sir Ian Botham Praises England, Anderson, Broad After Lord’s Victory – Cricket World TV

James Anderson Online video Ranking: 5 / 5

Best Swing Bowler in the World

Legendary England all rounder Sir Ian Botham believes that current England pace man James Anderson is the best bowler of swing in the world at the moment and as the leading bowler of the England pace attack, which includes the likes of Stuart Broad, Steve Finn, Graeme Onions and Tim Bresnan, it is in very good hands. These comments by Botham are sure to add to the confidence of Anderson who is already riding high on it after a good performance in the first Test against the West Indies at Lord’s which England won comfortable, thanks largely due to the pace attack that managed to take 20 wickets on a pitch that is known to be friendly toward the batsmen.

Although Anderson managed only three wickets in the first Test and Stuart Broad stole the show with 11 wickets in the match, it was the performance of James Anderson that was singled out by Sir Ian Botham as the standout among all the bowlers and it was due to the tight bowling of Anderson that the other bowlers were targeted for runs, leading to them getting their wickets.

According to Botham, who is a regular writer of columns for newspapers, he loves all the bowlers in the England team at the moment and according to him, regardless of whether the side sticks with the bowlers from the first Test or include Steve Finn or Graeme Onions, they are sure to get another 20 wickets easily.

And he heaped particular praise on the 31 year old James Anderson saying that if luck was on his side, he would have ended the match with around 10 wickets but it was not be. However, he did mention that Anderson has it all in him to emulate the Pakistani swing duo of Wasim and Waqar in the future.

BOTHAM BACKS ENGLAND

According to one of England’s cricket Legends, The current world number one team will hold that position “for quite a while now”. Ian Bothem made the comments after England defeated Sri-lanka in their second test to level the series at one all.

England achieved the world number one ranking after defeating India soundly four tests to zero last year. It was a defining moment in English cricket to finally reach the world number one spot after so many years.

Unfortunately they lost their next series three tests to nil against Pakistan. The series which was played in the United Arab Emirates for security reasons was a disaster for English cricket with the team losing both its form and moral. Things went from bad to worse when they lost their first test to Sri-lanka meaning they had lost four test matches in a row.

Botham however believes that England’s poor form isn’t reflective of the team actual ability and that the team will hold onto the top spot for a while at least. When asked about what went wrong Botham responded by saying “I don’t know what went wrong in the first part of the winter. It was really weird, all of that.” Botham was especially critical of the English batting line up who he claims “just didn’t show up. Why that is, I haven’t got a clue, and I don’t think they know.” He said.
